Stats Viz

About Stats Viz

What it is

Stats Viz publishes data stories built only from public statistics and official records. The aim is an objective reading of the record: readers get the full dataset behind a story, not a selected chart.

The work is split into three sites by scope. Global covers cross-country indicators, Japan covers Japanese government statistics, and Taiwan covers public records of the Republic of China. Each has its own subdomain and its own repository.

Editorial rules

Public sources only. Every figure comes from a government, statistical agency or international organisation that publishes it openly. Terms of use are followed and recorded in the methodology.

Source beside the number. Publisher, table and release date appear with each story. Source snapshots are kept so a figure can be traced after the original page changes.

Limits stated. Estimates, revisions, changes in definitions and missing years are called out in the story.

No advocacy. Stories describe what the record shows. They do not endorse parties, candidates or policies, and they avoid framing that pushes a conclusion.

Corrections are public. If a figure is wrong, it is fixed and the change is noted. Send reports to the contact address below.

How it is produced

Pages are drafted with AI assistance, then checked against the source tables by running the data pipeline and comparing outputs with the published figures. The sites are static pages without server-side code.

Organisation

Stats Viz is currently an independent project operating under the name stats-viz.org. Legal entity details will be added here if and when the project is incorporated.
